"The Regional Energy Office collectively fills a need that we as an individual city could not have fulfilled in the given time frame. It is on our conscience to attend to this task before all of us."

"The city of Farmington Hills is always seeking ways to serve our residents through wise fiscal decisions and through forward-thinking policies. The Southeast Michigan Regional Energy Office will help the city focus on sustainabillity as well as saving on costs. The city joined the SEMREO beause of the services provided and also for the following reasons:
- A Regional Energy Office can take advantage of economies of scale rather than setting up dozens of individual municipal energy offices across metro Detroit.
- A large unique and innovative entity, with greater resources, wil be able to attract a top professional team of experts to help create and implement a plan for a more sustainable metro Detroit.
- The SEMREO will be able to leverage resources more successfully and will be highly competitive for federal, state, and private grants.
- The SEMREO will create a conduit for greater collaboration.
- The challenges of energy and sustainability do not adhere to boundaries and neither should the region's response."
